funeral Weddings Funerals Special Events

Pipers have been used at military and state funerals for centuries, but now Piping is becoming more of a common feature at everyday funerals.

Bagpipes add a special touch to any funeral providing sweet haunting melodies. The sound of the bagpipe is the perfect send off for your loved ones.

I can be used at any type of funeral, whether it is a cremation or burial.

Cremations

I can play laments outside the crematorium as mourners are arriving, the music will help them drift off in to a world of remembrance.

The Pipes can also be used during the service when the casket is being lowered or the curtain is being drawn.

I can also lead the hearse from the entrance of the crematorium grounds to the door.

Burials

Again the Pipes can be used inside or outside the church during the ceremony; you can incorporate the pipes into your service.

I can play to lead the casket from the service to the hearse.

I can play as the casket is being carried from the hearse to the graveside, lowered into the ground, and/or continue to play as the mourners pay their last respects and take a moment for reflection.

At this point I can march slowly away until the music fades into the distance.

Tunes

The music for every funeral should be as unique and individual as the person that has died; I therefore have a wide selection of tunes from which the family can choose.

All requests no matter how conventional or otherwise are encouraged.

Here is a small selection of the most commonly used laments and slow airs a Piper would play at a funeral:

  • Flowers of the Forest
  • Lochaber No More
  • Highland Cathedral
  • Skye Boat Song
  • The Mull of Kintyre
  • The Dark Island
  • The Mist Covered Mountains
  • The Flower of Scotland
  • Amazing Grace
  • Going Home
  • Danny Boy
